Jessicas Ghost have been together and gigging in one form or another since June 2006. Em (vocals/guitar) met Moxy (bass / vocals), who knew Seb (drums and percussion), who was mates with Al (cello) then everyone met Sarah (cello, keyboards). Al left the band after a couple of months and was replaced by Mart (keyboards, mandolin, vocals). The band made a massive impact with their folk-tinged indie rock style and quickly gained a reputation for excellent musicianship and energetic live performances. This translated superbly when the band recorded their debut album "The Winning Hand" with producer Richard JL Smith at The Wall recording studios, Wrexham.
Sarah (cello) left the band in 2009 and was replaced by Christoph (violin/fiddle) in January of that year. The band took a little time out and locked themselves in a practice room in preperation for a tour of Poland and several UK festival aperances. Sadly, after a hectic summer of superb gigs Mart decided that it was time to call it a day. He left the band in 2009 and Jessicas Ghost continued to gig as a 4 piece. In 2010 Seb decided to move back to his native Poland leaving just Em, Moxy and Christoph to carry on as an acoustic 3 piece.
Deciding that more musicians were needed the remaining Ghosties took a little time out to search for the right people and to write some new music. After hunting high and low for a talented drummer to replace Seb the band looked a little closer to home and recruited Em's husband (JG super-fan/un-official photographer and general hanger on) Dave for the role on the proviso that Em didn't shout at him (too much)! This seemed to mark a change of fortune for the band as soon after they were contacted by Erica and R-Chris who stormed their auditions and were quickly asked to become full time Ghosties.
Jessicas Ghost are now back and sounding even better than before! The sound has more of a FOLK /ROCK sound thanks to the addition of electric guitar and the band still maintain the high levels of musicianship and high energy in their performances. Teamed with excellent songwriting this really does make Jessicas Ghost a must see band! The band are looking forward to recording new material as well as a few old favourites for their 2nd studio album later this year. They already have festival performances and major support gigs booked and are always on the lookout for exciting new venues to perform at. [more info]
